Mr. Luis Viramontes was born in Mexicali, Baja California Mexico.He was born into a musical family and from a very early age began to sing actively in church. It was at a very young age that Mr. Viramontes also took guitar and piano lessons. He was influenced by the music of the great classical masters.
His mother Margarita enrolled Luis at La Casa de la Cultura in Tijuana, Mexico.It was here that Luis learned to play the Classical Guitar and felt like he had re-discovered his beloved instrument.Through the instruction of a young classical guitarist Marco Antonio Labastida, a pupil of Los Romero, Luis learned the proper technique and discipline that a classical musician must have."I wanted to become a classical pianist, but the first time I heard Marco demonstrate the classical guitar technique, I felt such love for the sound of this instrument...I soon forgot about the piano! "After enrolling in this Music school, Luis was soon given a scholarship by the Mexican Government to continue his studies at La Casa De La Cultura.
He began working as a studio musician and soon became well versed in not only Classical, but also Bossa Nova, Rock, Latin, Flamenco and Jazz.In 1998, he performed at Fiesta Broadway. He was also an invited guest performer for Mariachi Imperial's second album "Mariachi Mambo y Mas". Mr. Viramontes has worked a number of years teaching hundreds of guitar students of all ages and styles.
Mr. Viramontes has also continued to perform actively in concerts and churches through out Southern California."My style is definitely not only classical any more.I'm influenced by the guitar music of Vicente Amigo, Paco de Lucia, Christopher Parkening, Joe Satriani, Los Romero, and a many others."
Luis is currently working on a new album with all original music. It will have a fresh, new and original sound to his Spanish guitar playing and should be out by the beginning of 2009.
